‘Intersection: The Caribbean Meets Savile Row’
Millhouse brought the Caribbean to London with their Spring/Summer 2015 presentation, ‘Intersection: The Caribbean Meets Savile Row’. In a static showcase featuring twelve looks, colour rebellion met refinement, tropical casual met sartorial splendour, and Caribbean ease met British dandy. The collection featured quality craftsmanship evident in double-breasted jackets, waistcoats and tapered trousers—all in natural cottons, linens and soft denim. Up-market Caribbean-connected shoe label Mr. Hare footed the models and the infusion of colour and tasteful accessories gave the collection an unmistakable tropical vibe.
Millhouse is the first Caribbean menswear brand to showcase during the prestigious London Collections: Men (London Men’s Fashion Week). The brand’s owners Coline Baptiste Mills and Gregory Mills stated, “Intersection is a visual reflection of who we are, what we have become and where we are heading.” Mrs. Baptiste Mills is a graduate of the London College of Fashion and Mr. Mills a graduate of the Savile Row Academy. ‘Intersection’ was met with praise as editors and buyers commented on the impeccable tailoring and unique details, which the brand from its founding has held to.
The experience surrounding the presentation was one of true Caribbean revelry with exotic island beats reverberating through the atmosphere and epicurean offerings that tantalised Londoners to board the next flight to the Caribbean.
Millhouse has now laid its feet on the global menswear scene and from the look and sound of it will be presenting at subsequent editions of LC:M…we wait with baited breath for the next oblation from the Caribbean’s leading menswear design house.
The presentation held at the Trinidad and Tobago High Commission and was facilitated and produced by GCaribbean Magazine, Acu|Bien and Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Tourism.
